{Friday 5} Running Songs

...and some random running pictures!
This is my sister, Martha, who organizes our family to run the "turkey trot" every Thanksgiving morning!  This photo is from 2009.
I realized this week that I need new running songs.  Badly.  Mine are just not doing anything for me lately.  Yes, maybe the problem is that I have been listening to the same music for, oh, I don't know... 3 years!!!  I am not kidding.

Despite their "oldness" these are presently my {5} favorite running songs:
1.  Sexy Back- Justin Timberlake
2.  Poker Face- Lady Gaga
3.  Telephone- Lady Gaga
4.  I Gotta Feeling- Black Eyed Peas
5.  I Wanna Go- Britney Spears

(My shuffle also includes Take Me on the Floor-  Veronicas, more Britney, and some Katy Perry. I just added the Britney Spears in October so those still sound like new to me.)

See a trend?  Or rather, the problem?  So I am trying to come up with some new songs that are totally *now* so I can listen to them for the next three years!  I don't really listen to the radio but last weekend I was on Pandora while I did the taxes (which are now done! thankyouverymuch) and I only wrote down one song that I really wanted to add to my mix.  It was Blow by Ke$ha.  Hey, don't judge.  I don't even know who these people are...I just like to run to the songs!
October 2004
I was SO 8 1/2 months pregnant here!

So DID I get your attention with that photo? Ha!
I desperately need some fun new songs that make me feel like kicking ass!

Any suggestions?

  1. Ooo! I love making new mixes :) Here are a few of my latest downloads that I would include on a "kicking ass running list": Shake it by Metro Station, When I Grow Up by The Pussycat Dolls, Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO, That's What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction, Drive By by Train...Ok, I could go on if you like :) Good Luck!

    1. This is *just* what I am looking for! I haven't heard of a couple of these songs before so I need to hop over to iTunes to get a listen. I love that song "When I Grow Up" but forgot about it! Thanks!!!!

  2. What a great post! I need some songs to get me thinking about thinking about getting going!

    1. It's funny, sometimes I will listen to my running songsjust to get dinner made when I feel too worn out in the afternoon! It works.

  3. Hey Kate, I have been unable to run lately but dreaming of running. Sigh. Here are some songs I have had on my iTunes forever-I need to refresh mine too but maybe some of these will be new to you: "Airplanes" by B.o.B. "Grenade" by Bruno Mars "Mr. Know it All" by Kelly Clarkson, Good Life" OneRepublic, "Raise your Glass" and "F**kin' Perfect" (clean version please) from Pink, "Whatever You're Doing (something heavenly) Sanctus Real,(sometimes slower songs help me run faster than fast songs). And maybe you need to pull out some good old Alanis Morissette...I remember you playing Alanis loudly in college whenever you needed to kick some a**. :)
